When you receive your equipment, you will also be given a roadbook and a map to help you navigate and follow your chosen route.
For digital enthusiasts, a QR code on your roadbook will provide access to a .gpx file, which can guide you via a compatible mobile application (such as GPX Viewer).
We strongly encourage you to download a GPS navigation app on your phone. There are many free options available.
Of course! Our furry friends are always welcome in the High Fens. However, please ensure that your dog is kept on a leash during your hike.
Unfortunately, the region is very hilly, making it difficult to follow a GrillHike with a wheelchair or stroller. However, you can organize your own walk in the beautiful village of Ovifat. Feel free to contact us so we can explore the different options available to you.
Use the photos and landmarks on the map in your roadbook if you lose your way. If you still cannot find your route, you can call us at +32 487 27 59 50, and we will guide you back or come to pick you up.
Bookings close the day before at noon for the date you wish to come. For Sundays, reservations must be made by Friday at noon.

Yes, if the cancellation conditions are met, you can email us to reschedule your GrillHike activity to another date, or request a voucher equal to the value of your order.
To cancel your booking, simply send an email to info@grillhike.com specifying your order, and we will send you a voucher for the amount you paid. You can use this voucher to book a new date within 2 years.
Please note that you can no longer cancel your booking after Friday at noon prior to your scheduled activity.
Example: If your GrillHike is scheduled for Sunday 19 June, you can cancel up until Friday 17 June at 12:00. If you cancel after Friday at 12:00, we will not be able to cancel your order.
Everything is done online at the time of booking. There are no fees to pay on site.
If you want additional drinks, they can be purchased on site during the briefing and equipment handover.
Unfortunately, all our packages require a minimum of 2 people. Only the children’s package can be booked individually, as an add-on to another package.
You may, however, book for an odd number of participants from 3 onwards (3-5-7-9-... people).
Yes, we will ask for an ID card or driving licence when handing over the equipment. In case of damage/loss of equipment, or failure to respect the environment, we reserve the right to request financial compensation. You can find more details in our general terms and conditions.
Our barbecues work with a gas cartridge. When you receive your equipment, we’ll show you how to light the barbecue safely. Don’t worry – it’s very easy!
You can use the barbecue at one of the many beautiful spots marked in your roadbook. These locations have been approved in consultation with the DNF (Department of Nature and Forests) to minimise fire risk. Sightseeing, enjoyment, safety, and relaxation guaranteed!
Unfortunately, all our packages contain gluten and lactose. However, some of our food items do not. You can request the full list by phone.
Of course! We invite you to enjoy a drink on our terrace.
The High Fens region offers pristine and protected nature. We kindly ask you to respect this special environment by not leaving any rubbish behind and instead placing all waste in the bin bag we provide. Upon arrival, you’ll receive our “Perfect Hiker’s Guide.”
Yes. GrillHike BBQs are authorized: we have received approval from the two municipalities concerned as well as from the DNF.
To ensure a safe and environmentally friendly experience:
we use small gas BBQs, with no charcoal or sparks, which virtually eliminates any fire risk;
BBQ breaks take place in designated areas (often near rivers), and the activity is supervised;
several times a year, we inspect the routes to maintain and clean the picnic areas.
And in the vast majority of cases, our hikers are very respectful: they love nature... and take good care of it.
The GrillHike gourmet hike is a nature walk with a real BBQ in the woods as the highlight. You choose your date and your menu, and we prepare everything for you:
a backpack containing the ingredients / menu items,
a backpack containing the portable BBQ, tableware, and everything else you need.
You then choose the length of the route, and we provide you with a map and a GPX file to follow on your smartphone.

Our routes generally range from 5 km to 12 km.
The difficulty varies from easy to more challenging, mainly depending on the elevation gain. You choose the route that best suits your group (family, friends, colleagues).
